Create Locale Settings

Overview

You can create language locales that specify language translations of system transaction types and define a currency format for emails you send to your customers. A default locale of System_US_English_locale already exists.

Once you create a locale, you can:

  1. associate it your customer accounts, and
  2. associate it with translations of product catalog elements. For elements that are defined in open text fields, a translation link is provided next to the field. The translation link opens a menu to select a locale and define a translation for the field. See Multi-language Translation of Product Elements for more information.

You can edit any user-created locales from the Locale Settings page. If the locale is already used by an email template, the system displays a lock icon indicating it cannot be deleted. Likewise, if it is a system locale, a system icon displays indicating it cannot be deleted nor edited.

Note: You can also create a new locale by copying an existing locale and providing a new name and description. The other field values transfer over and can be edited before saving the new locale.

  1. Enter a locale name into the Locale Name field (required).
  2. Enter a description into the Description field.
  3. Select a Currency format. When not specified, Aria uses your client-level currency format settings (Configuration > Client Settings > Miscellaneous Settings) or the system-wide default (0,000,000,000.00).

    Available Currency Formats

Note: When not specified, Aria uses your client-level currency format settings (Configuration > Client Settings > Miscellaneous Settings > Default Currency Format Mask) or the system-wide default (0,000,000,000.00).

  4. Fill in all applicable Translation Name information. View a complete list of translatable values.
  5. Click Save.

All created locales display in the Aria email template Locale drop-down. The default value for this drop-down is System_US_English_locale. The locale you select when creating or updating an email template determines the language, number, and date formats in customer communications.
