Rate Schedules
This article explains how to update the rate schedule on an existing catalog Plan. It also covers scheduling a future rate change that takes effect later without disturbing current billing.
Overview
This subsection covers how pricing on an existing catalog Plan changes over time: updating a plan's rates outright, and scheduling a rate change to take effect on a future date without disturbing the current rate in the meantime. It applies to Master and Supplemental Plans at the catalog level, and changes affect every account subscribed to the plan. Use this subsection for pricing-change questions on a plan that already exists; use Plan Creation's Add Rates to a Plan for pricing set during initial plan setup, and Account Management's Master Plan Instances for a one-off custom rate on a single account.
Rate Schedule Summary
- Update a Plan's Rate Schedule covers changing the rate schedule on an existing Master or Supplemental Plan from the Rates tab. A plan can carry multiple rate schedules, one per currency, and a change applies to all instances of the plan immediately unless a future change date is set. This subsection does not cover custom, account-specific rate overrides.
- Future Rate Versioning covers scheduling a rate change for a future effective date while Aria continues billing the current rate until then. It requires bill lag days to be configured and the VERSIONING_ENABLED client parameter to be turned on by Aria Support. This feature exists to keep invoices accurate for accounts with positive or negative bill lag days, and for accounts created with a retroactive start date, where the correct historical or future rate version must be selected automatically. It covers version-selection rules (an account-level custom rate always overrides a future catalog rate), how proration is calculated across plan-change APIs such as assign_acct_plan_m, replace_acct_plan_m, update_acct_plan_m, cancel_acct_plan_m, update_acct_plan_multi_m, update_acct_complete_m, and edit_acct_plan_queued_change_m, and which "get" APIs (including get_plan_details_m, get_client_plans_all_m, and get_acct_plans_all_m) return current and future rate fields. It also lists operational caveats: only one future rate can be scheduled at a time, the future rate must retain the current tier structure, enabling the feature in production requires a manual migration with Aria Support, and it does not apply to Plan Unit Instances.
