Multi-Factor Authentication

Overview

To comply with PCI standards, Aria requires Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for users who log in to the Aria Billing application. If you log in to Aria Billing, you can obtain a one-time password (OTP) either via email or an authenticator phone application. The video below outlines the steps for configuring an authenticator application. Written instructions are included below the video.

Configuring Multi-Factor Authentication via Microsoft Authenticator

  1. Enter your username and password on the Aria Billing Login page and press the Login button. The Aria Billing Login page will then present you a screen with a text box where you can enter a verification code.
  2. Aria will automatically send a verification code email to the email address registered to your account.
  3. Check your email for this six digit verification code.

  4. You can optionally register your web browser for one week so you will not be required to retrieve a code each time you log in for one week.
  5. Enter the provided code into the Aria Billing Login text box titled Enter OTP Verification Code.

    Notes:

    1. If you do not see a verification code in your email inbox, be sure to check your email's spam folder.
    2. An onscreen timer counts down. Once that reaches zero, a Resend Code link will appear. Clicking that generates a new code and sends another email.
  6. Once you enter the correct code, the Verify Code button becomes enabled. You can click this button to log in. If you want to configure an authenticator app on your phone, go to the next step.
  7. Entering the correct code enables the Configure Authenticator link. Clicking Configure Authenticator loads a QR Code that you can scan with your chosen authenticator app on your phone or a secret token that you can manually enter to create an entry in your authenticator app.

Note: You must enter an OTP code generated by the authenticator app to fully activate this token. This code is validated specifically against the newly created token. Other codes that you may have, such as a static password or even another authenticator app code, are not accepted.
  8. Open the authenticator application on your phone. The exact process may vary based on your authenticator app.

  9. Touch the Plus sign in the upper-right of the application.

  10. Touch the Other box.

  11. This opens a square with your phone's camera feed. Point your camera at the QR code on your computer screen. This adds an application called AriaSystems to your Authenticator app.

  12. Enter the code listed under the new AriaSystems application from your Authenticator app into the OTP Code screen on your computer.
  13. Click the Verify Code button to log in.

You can now obtain an OTP Verification Code via your Authenticator application to log in to Aria.

Note: Once your authenticator app is configured, your next login will no longer automatically send an OTP email. The assumption is that you would rather use your chosen authenticator app for two factor secure login. However, there is still a link on the OTP page to optionally send an email if needed.
