Volume Rating

Volume rating applies the same tier rate to all usage based on total usage during the billing period. Volume rating is also referred to as two-pass rating or bill-time rating.

Expected Result

The system applies the same tier rate for all usage based on total usage during the billing period.

Variants

  • Independent volume rating for each usage type
  • Volume rating across usage types in a master plan instance hierarchy

Setup

  1. Pre-configure accumulator resources in Aria Allegro. For independent tiers per usage type, set independent accumulators. For shared tiers across usage types, set a common accumulator for all usage types. Configure accumulators with Accumulate Quantity set to True.
  2. Set up the plan, plan rate schedule, and plan services in core Aria.
  3. Identify the usage types that require volume rating. Determine whether volume rating applies across usage types in the master plan instance hierarchy.
  4. In Aria Allegro, configure the price offer as follows:
    1. Select the Volume Rating checkbox.
    2. Set Pricing Model to Tiered.
    3. Set Tier Reference to Balance.
    4. Select the accumulator configured in step 1.
    5. Set Tier Type to Prospective.
    6. Set other attributes for prospective tiers as needed.
    7. Add tiers and rates.
    8. Add currency and accumulator impacts as needed.
