Copy Configuration Prerequisites

Overview

This section documents the system configurations that must be in place before the Copy Configuration functionality can be used.

Before You Begin

  1. The Destination environment must be created before copy configuration Import activities can begin.
  2. You must have the Client Number, the Authorization Key, and the URL for the Source environment. The Client Number and the Authorization Key can be obtained from the Configuration > Integrations > Web Service API screen.
  3. Both the source and the destination instances of the Aria client must be enabled for Copy Configuration.
  4. The user who is performing the Copy Configuration operation must be assigned the Copy Configuration role, and have the appropriate permissions to copy the relevant objects and elements.

Note: To have your organization’s Aria instances enabled for Copy Configuration, submit a Parature ticket or send an email to support@ariasystems.com.

Before using Copy Configuration for any of the tasks discussed in the following pages, it is recommended that you create a backup of the existing Aria instance using Copy Configuration. To do this, create an Export file as described in the Export a Configuration procedure, then Import that file into the same Aria instance, following the Import a Configuration procedure. Note that the source and destination for this procedure will be the same Aria instance.

It is also strongly recommended that you use Copy Configuration to back up all of your Aria instances on a regular recurring basis. Such backups provide assurance that restoration of the original environment can be implemented in the quickest and most efficient manner.
