Rating Notifications
As part of usage rating, Aria Allegro evaluates each rated record against the subscriber's credit profile and raises a notification event when a balance reaches a configured threshold or credit limit. Notification evaluation never changes rating outcomes. Aria Allegro isolates this evaluation so that a failure in it can never affect a rated transaction.
Trigger Events
| Event | Fires when |
|---|---|
| Currency Balance Threshold Breach | A currency balance newly crosses a configured notify threshold on the credit profile. |
| Currency Credit Limit Breach | A currency balance reaches or exceeds the resource's own credit limit. This is a hard signal independent of any threshold row. |
| Allowance Balance Threshold Breach | An allowance's combined usage, meaning the current-period bucket plus any rollover bucket, newly crosses a configured notify threshold. |
| Accumulator Balance Threshold Breach | An offer accumulator newly crosses a configured notify threshold. |
Note: As of this release, Aria Allegro acts on the Notify action for a breached threshold. It does not yet act on the Suspend or Restrict actions, and it does not yet act on a currency credit limit breach.
How Evaluation Works
- Aria Allegro evaluates a currency balance immediately after it updates the balance, using the balance values from that same update.
- Aria Allegro evaluates an allowance after it writes each bucket's balance, using the combined total across every bucket that shares the same allowance ID. Evaluating a single bucket on its own would understate the customer's true position.
- Aria Allegro evaluates an accumulator immediately after it updates the accumulator balance.
- Aria Allegro resolves the credit profile from the subscriber's balance unit, falling back to the account's default profile if none is assigned. If no profile resolves, Aria Allegro does not raise a notification.
- Aria Allegro compares each threshold as either a flat amount or a percentage, of the credit limit for currency and accumulator resources, or of the allowance's own amount for an allowance resource.
- A threshold only fires on the record that newly crosses it. Aria Allegro does not re-notify on a later record that simply continues to exceed an already-breached threshold.
- If a record crosses more than one threshold on the same resource at once, Aria Allegro fires only the single highest threshold that was newly breached.
Worked Examples
The following three examples use the same underlying mechanics, one for each resource type.
Currency
A postpaid subscriber has a credit profile with a currency resource for USD: a credit limit of 200.00 and a percent threshold at 75 percent.
- The pre-update balance owed is 140.00, which is 70 percent of the credit limit and below the 150.00 (75 percent) threshold.
- A rated record adds 20.00 of usage, taking the balance owed to 160.00, which is 80 percent. This newly crosses the 150.00 threshold, so Aria Allegro fires the Currency Balance Threshold Breach event.
Allowance
A postpaid subscriber has a credit profile with an allowance resource for a 10,000 MB data allowance, including any rolled-over allowance, with a percent threshold at 80 percent of the allowance's own amount, not the credit limit. The subscriber has two buckets: a current-period bucket with 9,700 MB and a rollover bucket with 300 MB carried from the last cycle.
- The pre-update combined usage is 7,500 MB used from the current-period bucket plus 300 MB used from the rollover bucket, totaling 7,800 MB, which is 78 percent and below the 8,000 MB (80 percent) threshold.
- A rated record uses another 300 MB from the current-period bucket. After that bucket updates, the combined usage becomes 7,800 plus 300, or 8,100 MB, which is 81 percent. This newly crosses the 8,000 MB threshold, so Aria Allegro fires the Allowance Balance Threshold Breach event.
Accumulator
A postpaid subscriber has a credit profile with an accumulator resource with a flat-amount threshold at 450 minutes.
- The pre-update accumulator balance is 430 minutes.
- A rated record accumulates another 25 minutes, taking the post-update balance to 455 minutes. Since the pre-update balance of 430 was below 450 and the post-update balance of 455 reaches or exceeds it, Aria Allegro fires the Accumulator Balance Threshold Breach event.
See Configure Allowance Percent Threshold Notification, Configure Accumulator Threshold Notifications, Currency Balance Threshold Breach Notifications, Allowance Balance Threshold Breach Notifications, and Accumulator Balance Threshold Breach Notifications for the setup steps behind each of these events.
