Usage Data

The Usage Data section lets you upload usage files, track file processing progress, and view usage records at each processing stage. Aria Allegro ingests usage data via files and processes each file through three phases: Parse and Load, Mediation, and Rating.

View Usage Master Data

The Usage Master Data tab shows all files ingested for your account, current and historical.

To view usage master data:

  1. Click the Usage switch in the navigation pane.
  2. Click Usage Activity to expand the sub-menu.
  3. Click Usage Data.
  4. Click the Usage Master Data tab.

The system displays a table of ingested files.

View File Processing Details

Each usage file passes through three processing phases. You can expand any file row to see phase-level counts.

To view details for a specific file:

  1. Navigate to Usage Master Data as described above.
  2. Use the search filters and pagination to locate the file.
  3. Click the Maximize icon (right arrow) on the file row to expand the phase statistics.

The three processing phases are:

  • Parse and Load—parses and loads the usage file.
  • Mediation—converts raw usage data into the Allegro usage container and applies mediation rules.
  • Rating—applies rating to monetize usage records.

Each phase displays the following counts:

  • Total Count—total records for the phase, typically equal to the previous phase's Processed count.
  • Processed Count—count of successfully processed usage records.
  • Ignored Count—records filtered out during Mediation (not monetized) and marked IGNORED.
  • Suspended Count—records that failed processing during Rating. You can reprocess suspended records.
  • Error Count—records that errored during Parse and Load or Mediation.
    • Parse and Load errors indicate misplaced, misformatted, or unmapped files or records.
    • Mediation errors indicate incorrect mapping or misconfigured mediation rules.

Filter Usage Master Data

The following filters are available on the Usage Master Data tab:

  • Source Platform—select a source platform from the dropdown to filter by exact match.
  • File Name—enter a partial or full file name. This is a case-insensitive partial match filter.
  • Start Date—enter or select a start date. Returns files processed on or after this date (inclusive, >= 00:00:00).
  • End Date—enter or select an end date. Returns files processed before this date (exclusive, < 00:00:00).

You can sort the results by Source Platform or File Name, ascending or descending. By default, results sort by date/time, most recent first.

Load a Usage File

Use this procedure to manually upload a usage file. File upload is typically automated; use manual upload for testing, demos, or exception scenarios.

  1. Navigate to Usage Master Data as described above.
  2. Click Upload File at the top left of the activity pane to open the upload drawer.
  3. Select the Source Platform from the dropdown.
  4. Select the Service Type from the dropdown. If the source platform supports only one service type, this field is auto-populated.
  5. Select the Usage Record Type from the dropdown. If only one type is supported for the selected source platform and service type, this field is auto-populated.
  6. Add the file to upload using one of these methods:
    • Drag and drop the file into the upload window.
    • Click the upload window to open the file manager and select the file.
  7. Click Save. Aria Allegro copies the file to the corresponding storage folder and processing begins automatically.
  8. The UI returns to the main activity pane. Click the Refresh icon to update the master usage data table and see the file's processing status.
  9. Once the file appears in the table, click the Maximize icon to view processing phase statistics. For large files, a row-level Refresh icon is available to update statistics.

View Usage Platform Summary

For an account that ingests a large volume of usage files in a short time window, reviewing statistics file by file in Usage Master Data becomes impractical. It is difficult to tell whether processing is moving forward or stuck when there are hundreds or thousands of files. The Platform Summary tab rolls up the same statistics to the source platform level instead of the file level, so you can review progress across many files at a glance.

To view the Platform Summary:

  1. Click the Usage switch in the navigation pane.
  2. Click Usage Activity to expand the sub-menu.
  3. Click Usage Data.
  4. Click the Usage Platform Summary tab.

Aria Allegro displays one collapsible section per source platform that matches the current filters, each showing a rolled-up file count and stage statistics.

View Platform-Level Statistics

  1. Click the Maximize icon on a platform's row to expand its stage breakdown, or use the Source Platform filter to select a specific platform, which expands its section automatically.
  2. Each platform's row shows:
    • Files: the total number of files counted toward this platform's rollup. See Filter Attributes for the Platform Summary below for which files are included.
    • Pending: the total pending record count, summed across the Parse and Load, Mediation, and Rating stages.
    • Errors: the total error record count, summed across the same three stages.
  3. Expanding a platform shows the same three processing stages as Usage Master Data (Parse and Load, Mediation, and Rating), each with its total, processed, ignored, suspended, error, and pending counts, summed across every file counted toward that platform instead of a single file.

Filter Attributes for the Platform Summary

  • Source Platform: select a specific platform to view just that platform's section, expanded. Leave this set to All Platforms to see every matching platform as its own collapsible section.
  • Pending Count Greater Than Zero: checked by default. Hides any platform with no pending work in any stage. Uncheck this to see every platform, including fully processed ones.
  • Start Date: optional. Bounds how far back a fully complete file still counts toward a platform's totals. Leave this blank to default to the last 30 days. Aria Allegro always includes a file that is still processing, regardless of its age, so a stuck file is never hidden by this filter.
  • End Date: optional. Bounds the latest file date still counted. Leave this blank for no upper limit.

Refresh Platform Statistics

  1. Click the Refresh icon next to a platform's name, or expand its section, to bring that platform's statistics up to date before you review them.
  2. To limit load on the system, a single refresh updates only a capped number of a platform's oldest incomplete files at a time. If the platform's backlog is larger than that cap, a message states how many files remain incomplete after the refresh. Click the Refresh icon again to continue working through the backlog.
  3. If no message appears after you refresh, Aria Allegro fully cleared the platform's backlog in that pass.
