Multi-Rate for Usage With No Dependency
Some use cases require applying multiple charge types (rates) to each usage record. See the Multi Rate Usage type configurations in the Allegro Configurations section and under Usage → Configurations → Building Blocks → Multi Rate Usage.
Use case example: for each VOICE usage international call from UK to Latin America (ignoring the zone model configurations), apply the following charges
- A flat connection fee of $0.03—FLAT FEE
- A usage charge of $0.12 per minute—FLAT FEE per minute
- A usage surcharge of $0.02—FLAT FEE
Expected Result:
For a single 10-minute voice call from US to Argentina, the rates apply as follows: $0.03 + $1.20 + $0.02 = $1.25. One line appears for the voice record in the invoice.
Variants:
- Any Aria Allegro pricing model for the Connection Fee, Usage Charge, and usage surcharge.
- Separate invoice lines for Connection Fee, Usage Charge, and usage surcharge instead of one line.
Setup:
- Assume the usage type and services are pre-configured.
- Configure Multi rate-usage type under Usage → Configurations → Building Blocks → Multi-rate usage.
- Click Add to create a new multi rate-usage configuration. Select the usage type to apply multiple charges - USToLatam in this example.
- Add the charges: ConnectionFee, UsageCharge, UsageSurcharges.
- Select Invoice at Parent level to show one line for the usage record.
- Add the price plan, rate schedule, and usage types (all 4) in core Aria.
- Set the price-offer for the 4 usage types in Aria Allegro. Use a dummy price for USToLatam and the other 3 charges with a FLAT pricing model, as shown in the example.
- Create an account and load a file with one usage record using usageType USToLatam.
- Check the monetized record to see three records for each charge.
- Run the Aggregate usage record for Billing to send the usage record to core Aria. One line for 10 minutes with a $1.25 charge applies with a blended rate of $0.125.
Not the exact usage types, but the following screenshot shows three charges added for a single usage type.
