Pricing for Combinations of Usage Attributes

Usage attribute-based pricing lets you select usage record attributes and set pricing for their value combinations. The mapping configuration under Mediation Setup maps raw usage to the Aria Allegro usage container model, which forms the basis for usage attribute pricing. Refer to the 4. Pricing Models section for details.

The following example uses three attributes from the usage record for pricing: QoS, Usage Class, and Flex Attribute 1.

QoS Usage Class Flex Attribute 1 Rate
High UC1 ABC Rate 1
Medium UC1 Rate 2
High UC2 Rate 3
<any> <any> <any> Rate 4

Expected Result

The system applies pricing based on the combinations above:

  • Rate 1 applies when QoS is High, Usage Class is UC1, and Flex Attribute 1 is ABC.
  • Rate 2 applies when QoS is High, Usage Class is UC1, and Flex Attribute 1 is XYZ.
  • Rate 3 applies when QoS is High, Usage Class is UC2, and Flex Attribute 1 is ABC.
  • Rate 4 applies when QoS is High, Usage Class is UC5, and Flex Attribute 1 is ABC.
  • Rate 4 applies when QoS is Low, Usage Class is UC3, and Flex Attribute 1 is ABC.

Variants

  • Pricing based on any number of usage attributes and their value combinations
  • Pricing based on the best match for usage attribute value combinations

Setup

  1. Set up the price plan, rate schedule, and rates in core Aria. Mark the plan for advanced pricing and enable the Add Allowance flag for the recurring service.
  2. Locate the shell price offers created in Aria Allegro for the same plan or rate schedule.
    1. For the usage type price offer, set Pricing Model to Usage Attribute-Based. A usage attributes section appears. Select and add three usage attributes—QoS, Usage Class, and Flex Attribute 1—using the Add Field button.
    2. Add four pricing sections to match the table above and set the corresponding rates. Select the same three attributes for the first group only; subsequent groups automatically inherit those attributes (you can add or remove attributes for each group as needed). Use the Add New Usage Attribute Pricing button to add each additional section.
